Mafia Wars New York Properties Upgrade

Facebook Mafia Wars is gonna start pimping the New York properties.

We'll be introducing some changes to promote the return of robbing!

1) We'll have properties switched to Flash mode, so make sure you have the latest version.

2) We'll be getting rid of 'undeveloped space'. The costs of undeveloped space will be folded into the costs of the updated properties. If you currently have any undeveloped properties, it’ll be sold off and you'll have your money returned to you.

3) Instead of owning 30 Mega Casinos, you will have 1 Mega Casino, but it will have been upgraded 30 times.

4) You won't be able to sell properties anymore, but you can continue to upgrade them. If you still haven't earned your "Cashing Out" achievement, do it soon!

5) All properties will have the same payout over time that they currently do, but some of the rates will change. They will take between 8 hours and 2 days to fill up. For example, say you currently owned 2 mega casinos. They produce $1,800,000 every 3 hours for you to collect. In the new system, you will now own a single level 2 Mega Casino, and it will produce $28,800,000 every 48 hours for you to collect.

6) You can only collect on your property once it is done producing. There will be progress bars and countdown timers letting you know how long it will be before you can collect on each property.

7) Properties will no longer "shut down". *Note: This only affects users who have started playing in the last few months.

8) People who have Rackets will be folded into the new system as well, but that change will take place a week or two after the launch of the new properties.

An important point we want to emphasize is that you will NOT be losing any money when we change the New York properties; it will all stay within the game. These upgrades are going hand-in-hand with the robbing feature that we'll be bringing back due to popular demand.

See the clerk, ask your friends, or bribe an official. You can only see the clerk once a day for a passport drop. If you don't get one on your first try, don't give up - the clerk will grant you access soon enough if you keep being persistent. You can also post a request for a passport and see if some of your more well-connected Mafia members can hook you up. If you're really itching to get your travel started, bribing an official is your guarantee for instant access. Not only will you get a passport for yourself, you'll get 3 additional ones to hand out to some very lucky Mafia members.

Our goal for this passport distribution system is to maintain a steady flow of users coming into the new city to keep the Bangkok servers running smoothly for everyone. We want to provide exciting and uninterrupted game play for all, while giving you a fun and challenging obstacle to conquer.

Ever had bad feelings towards a family member in the Mafia?
Now it's your chance to finally settle it, Don.

Declaring War lets you settle a beef with your friends.


Each war lasts 12 hours with each player's entire mafia racing to eliminate the other's top mafia. Each friend only gets one attack, so choose your target wisely. The results of a fight use your actual weapons and skills, although it does not cost stamina or health.

Once a Don's Top Mafia is eliminated, your mafia can take out your ultimate target.

If the timer finishes, the Don with the most Top Mafia left standing wins the War.

Game Updates - We made a few improvements to our fighting, robbing, and hitlists.

* Players can now only attack, rob or put a hit on players within a reasonable level range

* Players can not continually add the same person to the hitlist multiple times in a row

* Each hit put out will increase the minimum bounty for the next hit, within a short period of time.
The more you use the hitlist, the more expensive it will get.

* Now you can see how long until your next energy pack is available. A timer will be displayed on the home page.

MafiaWars Feature: Gifting

Collections can now be sent as gifts to your mafia members.

* Now you can trade collection items between your mafia members. Collections can be earned by trading between friends and completing jobs.

* When you collect 7 of the same item type you can vault the items to earn a unique bonus.

* The more you give the more you will receive.

* We are working on more ways to improve gifting. Keep checking back for new updates.

Game Updates - We have made a number of small changes to help improve the gameplay.

* We removed the current daily bonus in order to address game balance issues. We are currently working on a new bonus system, please stay tuned.

* We replaced the old mafia news section with the current news section in the hopes of improving usability.

* We corrected an issue that caused some browsers to crash when viewing the Top Families.

Facebook MafiaWars Robbing Update Fixed

By spending Stamina you can attack an enemy's property and steal money from the property. Robbing is harder than a fight, as you can only bring a number of Mafia members equal to your Level, even if you have more members in your Mafia.

When a property is protected (denoted by dark blue shields on the image) it has a higher Defense than normal. Each successful attack will remove one shield, damage the property, and reward you with money and experience. When a property is damaged too much it cannot be attacked further. The police arrive to break up the party.

This feature is still in BETA, and is unlocked at level 15.

Your assigned MafiaWars top mafia get benefits too!

Assign your best mafia members to positions within your mafia. Each position has a unique bonus which can be greater depending on who gets promoted to that position.

Mastermind – Choose a member with many jobs completed to promote to Mastermind to get more experience points from doing jobs. Your Mastermind gains a small chance of gaining 50% more experience when performing jobs.

Wheelman – Choose a member with the Fearless character type and a high level to promote to Wheelman to get a reduced energy cost for jobs. Your Wheelman gains a small chance to perform jobs for no energy.

Button Man – Choose a member with the Maniac character type and a high level to promote to Button Man to get an Attack bonus. Your Button Man gains a small chance to always win fights they initiate.

Bodyguard – Choose a member with many fights won to promote to Bodyguard to get a Defense bonus. Your Bodyguard gains a small chance to always win fights when they are attacked.

Safecracker – Choose a member with many successful heists to promote to Safecracker to get more money from fighting and robbing. Your Safecracker gains a small chance to gain double the money when fighting or robbing.

Bagman – Choose a member with the Mogul character type and a high level to promote to Bagman to get more money from jobs. Your Bagman gains a small chance to gain double the money when performing jobs.

Assign your best mafia members to positions within your mafia. Each position has a unique bonus which can be greater depending on who gets promoted to that position.
